About the Artist...

Greg Chalmers is a multi-media artist working in mixed media, oil, watercolor, stone sculpture, found-object sculpture, and jewelry. He has art work in private collections in Montana, South Dakota and New Mexico. His major artistic influences are Stanton Macdonald-Wright, Vincent Van Gogh, René Magritte, Alphonse Mucha, Oleg Stavrowsky, Barbara Hepworth, and Greg Senn.


Born in South Dakota, Greg grew up living and working on cattle Ranches throughout western South Dakota. Spending a large portion of his childhood on the Cheyenne River Sioux Indian Reservation which is reflected in his artwork. Many of his works contain Native American and Western influences, motifs and/or themes. He attended one year of college at South Dakota State University before moving to New Mexico where he met his wife. Greg obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in three-dimensional art (sculpture) and a Bachelor of Science in Religion from Eastern New Mexico University.


After graduating, Greg and his wife moved to North Carolina where he did volunteer work at the North Carolina Museum of Art and was an exhibiting member of the Seratoma Park Artist Association. Greg, his wife, and their sons now live in Rochester, Minnesota.
